Images of early April

Spring brings fog. Elaine and I embark on a hike around the local trails to see what's dry, and what's not. Biking season's a bit off in these parts still.

P1000966

Fog shrouds Mud Lake.

P1000969

This is one of our very favorite spots.

P1000973

Serene looking, but we had just spent the past ten minutes chucking massive logs into the lake. Super mature, no?

P1000983

My wife is a lift op. Here she is loading one of the last chairs of the year.

P1000994

Heading up for a final run. One nice thing about working at Neptune is there is always cool outdoor items to sample, like this extremely orange coat!

P1000996

Eldora shut down for the year. Is it just me, or do those lifts look like they could be from 1951?

P1000999

Storm clouds hover over a closed-down Eldora ski area. Till next year.

P1010005

Morning skin up to the prayer flag chutes.

P1010007

Storm moves in, but for now I'm above it all.

P1010014

And then it dumped! 20 plus inches. Couldn't drive, so we headed out the caboose for a first descent of the Conger Mine/Pitzer Woodlot 1/4 mile from home.

P1010019

Elaine gets the first ever descent of Conger Mine.

P1010021

Skinning back up from the woodlot.

P1010041

The wind rocks the trees above a trail known as Sherwood.

P1010047

Looking a bit epic in a rather non-epic place. We live in a good place.

P1010048

Smile all around when it snows 20 inches.

P1010052

Elaine checks out our little slice of wilderness.
