A former athlete I coach on the Nederland Nordic Team, Mike Vigers, recently qualified for the Scandinavian Cup nordic ski races in Finland. To make this team, you have to be one of the top four junior racers in the country. Mike went to nationals in Alaska, and laid a successful claim to his spot. Not bad for a kid who started nordic skiing in earnest two years ago and race for two years in pajama bottoms. You can follow their adventures here:
