Monsoon season

P1040848Monsoon season has hit the Rockies. Heavy rain and thunder predicted all day. I actually like summer when it's like this. In fact, one of my favorite things to do is wait till things start clouding up and the rain starts falling. Then, it's on with the biking or hiking or running clothes and into the woods for a north-woods style adventure. Riding bikes or running on tight, wooded trails in a raging thunderstorm. Not much better in my book. Yesterday was a mellow one, but we did manage to get out for a hike/run up the hill. We ran all the big hills, and I must say Woodcutter hurts more running than it does skate skiing!

Still skiing, went out this morning on day 161, but it's definitely time to transition to activities that shock the system and help prep and build strength, endurance and aerobic so next year is even better than this one. After all, Loveland opens in about three months. Time to hit the weight room, do running intervals, long mountain bike rides, sessions at the stadium, of course mixed in with Lewis and Clark-style adventure backpacking trips. If you want to be ready when the snow starts falling again, now is the time to put in the work.
