Holding pattern

A lazy evening at the shop listening to Christmas music, talking skis with the occassional Monday customer, waiting for snow. It seems like there's been a lot of waiting his winter. We still essentially have no snow, something I've never seen this late in Colorado. I won't lie – there is a strong side in both of us that wishes we'd relocated this summer somewhere else – especially when combined with the fact that our landlord and living situation is a little bit stressful right now. Just trying to stay positive, avoid too much stress, have a good winter, and bide our time till we can find a better solution. I have learned in life that other people's stress and issues will always be there, but it's your choice how you handle it.

We've been spending a lot of time running the trails, and it's helped our fitness. When the snow comes – and I believe it will, in droves – we'll be ready. We're simply in a holding pattern. Our race this weekend in Crested Butte got cancelled because of a lack of snow, but we may take the time and head back to Steamboat for the weekend, scrounge up some cheap lodging, and do some nordic skiing up on Rabbit Ears Pass. Steamboat seems to be the only place in the neighborhood with snow.

Here's a little video of skiing in Iceland to hold the tide till the real thing arrives in Colorado.
